• The Akumal Monkey Sanctuary is a conservation-focused animal rescue and rehabilitation centre located in Akumal. It provides a safe haven for monkeys and other wildlife that have been mistreated or displaced, offering visitors an opportunity to learn about the animals and their ecosystems. Some animals will live at the centre forever and others are released back into the wild again once they are strong enough.

2. What animals are at the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary?

• Although its mainly monkeys at the sanctuary, you will also find other animals there too, such as deer, goats, birds and even zebras, amongst others. The animals can also change depending on what animals are released back to nature or are taken to the sanctuary for help.

3. Are you allowed to interact with the animals at Akumal Monkey Sanctuary?

• Yes, under supervision from the staff, some of the animals can be interacted with.

4. Are children allowed at the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary?

• Yes, the sanctuary is a family friendly destination. Kids love it because of the animals.

• Yes, the animals that are tame, you may be able to hold them under supervised conditions.
