The Akumal Monkey Sanctuary is a conservation-focused animal rescue and rehabilitation centre located in Akumal. It provides a safe haven for monkeys and other wildlife that have been mistreated or displaced, offering visitors an opportunity to learn about the animals and their ecosystems. Some animals will live at the centre forever and others are released back into the wild again once they are strong enough.

Although its mainly monkeys at the sanctuary, you will also find other animals there too, such as deer, goats, birds and even zebras, amongst others. The animals can also change depending on what animals are released back to nature or are taken to the sanctuary for help.
