Tips for Visiting Los Angeles

  • Plan for Traffic: LA is notorious for its traffic. Avoid peak hours (7-10 AM and 4-7 PM) if possible.
  • Rent a Car: LA is still a car-centric city. Renting a car will give you more flexibility to explore.
  • Explore Different Neighbourhoods: LA is spread out. Visit neighbourhoods if you have time, like Hollywood, Venice, Downtown, Santa Monica, Silver Lake, and Koreatown to get a taste of the city’s variety.
  • Hit the Beaches: Visit Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier, and Malibu for quintessential LA beach experiences. Each offers something unique, from street performers in Venice to serene landscapes in Malibu.
  • Take a Hike: LA has some great hiking spots with amazing views. Check out Griffith Park, Runyon Canyon, or the trails in the Santa Monica Mountains.
  • Visit Museums: Don’t miss the Getty Center for art and stunning views, LACMA for contemporary art, and the Griffith Observatory for astronomy and great city views.
  • Try the Food Scene: LA’s food scene is incredible. Try tacos from a food truck, grab a meal at a high-end restaurant, and don’t forget to explore ethnic neighbourhoods like Koreatown and Little Tokyo.
  • See a Movie in Hollywood: Catch a film at the TCL Chinese Theatre or visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For a more local experience, try the Hollywood Forever Cemetery movie screenings.
  • Visit Theme Parks: If you’re into theme parks, Disneyland is just outside LA in Anaheim. Universal Studios Hollywood offers both a theme park and studio tours.
  • Take a Studio Tour: Visit Warner Bros., Paramount, or Sony Pictures Studios to see where movies and TV shows are made. You might even spot a celebrity!
  • Visit Farmers Markets: LA has excellent farmers markets. The Original Farmers Market near The Grove is iconic, and the Santa Monica Farmers Market is great for fresh produce and local goods.
  • Watch a Sunset: LA sunsets are amazing. Some of the best spots include Griffith Observatory, the Santa Monica Pier, and any of the beaches along the coast.
