Bioparc Valencia, the incredible zoo in Valencia. An innovative zoo that is well known for its modern and immersive design, which aims to recreate the natural habitats of the animals that live there.
The modern concept of ‘Bioparc’ is quite different from traditional zoos, as it gets rid of the classic ‘visible’ barriers that normally stand between you and the animals and instead, has more natural barriers (still safe, don’t worry!) and this approach offers an experience that feels like you’re walking through the animals’ natural environments and simply in the field with them, making it feel extra special. More and more zoos around the world are starting to take this approach now.
The park, like most zoos, is divided into different ecosystems or 'zones' in order that they can replicate the animals natural habitats. Bioparc Valencia is home to thousands of animals covering the a-z of the alphabet, from Addax to Zebras!
The zones you will find include:
African Savannah: This zone is home to animals like lions, giraffes, rhinoceroses, and zebras, amongst others, which are the animals you would naturally see across the African savannah.
Equatorial Forest: A green area where you can find primates like gorillas, chimpanzees, and other rainforest dwellers such as snakes, bongo, buffalo, Chameleon, pygmy hippopotamus, and leopards.
African Wetlands: This section showcases hippos, crocodiles, poisonous frogs and a variety of birds such as pelicans in a watery environment.
Madagascar Island: This section is dedicated to the unique wildlife of the island of Madagascar. Home to various different lemur species, which roam freely in this section, along with flamencos and fossa (not freely!).
We believe it will be one of the best zoos you will ever visit. Its emphasis on natural habitats and ethical treatment of animals sets it apart from traditional zoos, providing a memorable and educational experience.
Bioparc Valencia is located in the Turia Gardens, which is a large green space in the city and this also adds to the ambience as well, adding to your visit.
