About Central Park Zoo

New York City's famous Central Park is home to the Central Park Zoo, which is a firm favourite and bestseller in the city! The zoo may be compact but don’t let that put you off, as it offers a great escape into the world of wildlife in the city that never sleeps!

Central Park Zoo is set up over several habitats which are home to the various residents and the habitats include:
  1. Tropic Zone: The indoor rainforest habitat houses beautiful tropical birds, reptiles, and mammals. You will find species such as lemurs, tamarins, and exotic birds in here
  2. Penguin & Sea Birds: Watch the penguins as they swim and waddle in their specially designed habitat! The zoo is home to several species of penguins, including the ever-popular gentoo and king penguins. You will also find seals and other sea birds in this section of the zoo.
  3. Sea Lion Pool: Standing proudly in the centre of the zoo is the sea lion pool! Here you can watch the playful and sometimes loud Sea Lions enjoying their day and showing off in front of the crowds of visitors.
  4. Temperate Territory: This section features animals that you would find in the cooler climates around the world and is home to red pandas, snow leopards, amongst others..

Tisch Children’s Zoo

The Tisch Children's Zoo is part of Central Park Zoo but it's the area of the zoo where you can get a little closer to the residents! Its perfect for younger visitors (3 years and up) as it allows kids to interact with animals like goats, sheep, cows and pigs, as well as some other little furry animals! The kids can feed the animals with food from the dispensers and its just a lovely place to spend some time!

Daily Feeds at Central Park Zoo

If you can, try and time your visit with one of the feeding times for either the penguins of the sea lions as they can be fun to watch! The feeding schedules are as follows:

  • Penguin Feeding Times: 10:40 AM & 2:30PM
  • Sea Lion Feeding Times: 11:30 AM & 3:30PM
