About Keukenhof Tulip Festival

Welcome to Keukenhof, known as the “Garden of Europe” and home to the annual Tulip Festival that is held there each year from mid-March to mid-May.

With more than 7,000,000 bulbs planted each year to create the incredible displays of colour and beauty, the Keukenhof gardeners start planting the bulbs in the October of the year before in order to try and ensure a constant bloom during the 10-week open period.

The flowers aren’t just planted according to colour, but also height and size to ensure the best possible displays. Although it’s called the “Tulip Festival” it isn’t just tulips planted, but a wide variety of different plants and flowers and it’s all done to represent and show off a living catalogue for the flower growers and bulb sellers.

The 2025 show which will run from March 20th until May 11th will be the 76th show and is expected to be bigger and better than ever! Held on the Keukenhof Castle Estate, the Keukenhof Tulip Festival is put together by local bulb growers to show off their catalogue and to help them with sales. However, it’s also open to the public for them to enjoy.

Keukenhof is a great place to visit as a family as the kids will love exploring the paths and can even take part in a kids scavenger hunt that Keukenhof puts on each year!
