• There are two stops on the way up and 3 on the way down (they include your start location).

• Yes, the Telefèric de Montjuïc does give you access to Montjuïc hill, but to confirm, the cable car ticket is only for the cable car - it doesn’t give you access to the attractions on the hill - separate tickets are required where the attractions require them.

• Operating hours of the Montjuïc Cable Car vary seasonally but generally it opens at 10:00 AM and closes between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. It's closed on December 25th and January 1st. Our ticket booking process will also confirm the opening times for you.

• No, the two cable cars are different. The Montjuïc Cable Car is for Montjuïc hill. The Port Vell Aerial Tramway connects Barceloneta with Montjuïc across the harbour. You can use the Port Vell Aerial Tramway to get to the Montjuïc Cable Car but separate tickets are required. We sell tickets for both, don’t worry!

• Near the upper station of the Montjuïc Cable Car is Montjuïc Castle. The lower station is close to Montjuïc Park, which is near attractions like the Joan Miró Foundation and several beautiful garden areas.

• The journey on the Montjuïc Cable Car takes approximately 5 minutes.

Montjuïc Cable Car Fun Facts

• Historical Significance: The Montjuïc Cable Car was inaugurated in 1970. It replaced the old upper stage of the Montjuïc funicular.
• Modernised: It was modernised between 2004 and 2007. It went through a complete overhaul to increase its capacity and also replaced the original open cars with 55 new closed cabins!
• Scenic Views: The cable car ride offers amazing panoramic views of Barcelona. You can see landmarks including the Sagrada Família, the Olympic Stadium, and the Mediterranean Sea.
• Elevation Gain: The cable car climbs a vertical distance of approximately 84.55 meters from the base to Montjuïc Castle.
• ‍Intermediate Station: Cable cars only stop at the midpoint station called ‘Mirador’ on the way down!
