About the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is home to one of the most spectacular and biggest private art collections in the world. The museum is housed in the Villahermosa Palace, a neo-classical building which dates back to the late 18th century and is part of the ‘Golden Triangle of Art’ in Madrid, which includes the Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Reina Sofia Museum and the Prado Museum, as three major art museums in Madrid.

The collection was put together by German-Hungarian industrialist Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza de Kászon as part of his hobby and includes a diverse range of art that spans multiple centuries from the 13th century to pieces from the late 20th century, with more than 1600 pieces that include the following periods and artists:
