About Palmitos Park
Palmitos Park is a botanical and zoological park in the south of Gran Canaria near Maspalomas. Its one of the most popular family attractions on the island. The park offers a great day out that people of all ages can enjoy!
It covers around 20-hectares (around 49 acres) in the picturesque Barranco de los Palmitos valley, which is only around 10 kilometres away from Maspalomas. A beautiful natural environment that is home to around 200 different animal species as well as plants and flowers in its botanical gardens.
Attractions and Exhibits at Palmitos Park
- Dolphinarium: Home to bottlenose dolphins, the dolphinarium hosts shows that highlight the intelligence and agility of the incredible mammals. The shows are a firm favourite!
- Bird Shows: Enjoy presentations with birds of prey, including eagles and falcons, as well as other exotic birds like parrots and cockatoos! The shows offer insights into the behaviours and skills of the birds and are always fun to watch!
- Butterfly House: The butterfly house is actually one of the biggest in Europe and is home to various different butterfly species that are free to flutter at leisure, which creates a very relaxing atmosphere!
- Orchid House: The park is home to an extensive orchid collection for botanical lovers to enjoy.
- Cacti Garden: The park also has an extensive collection of cacti to enjoy.
- Aquarium: See a wide variety of aquatic life at the park including exotic fish species including surgeon fish and scorpion fish! The aquarium has both salt water and fresh water displays.
- Reptile Exhibits: The park is home to a variety of reptiles including Komodo dragons (the first Komodo dragons to be raised in captivity in Europe) and caimans that live in Caiman Lakes!
- Mammals: Meet the mischievous meerkats and gibbons, aardvarks and wallabies which each live in habitats that are designed to reflect their natural environments to ensure they are happy and enjoy their lives!
