About Stonehenge

Stonehenge is one of the most famous and mysterious ancient monuments in the world! The site consists of a ring of standing stones, each around 13 feet high, seven feet wide, and weighing approximately 25 tons. The stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England.

The site is believed to have been constructed between 3000 BCE and 2000 BCE but the exact purpose of Stonehenge still remains a mystery even to this day! There are of course many theories regarding its function which range from an astronomical observatory to a religious or ceremonial site and its alignment with the solstices has also led some to suggest it had significance in ancient calendars or rituals.

A visit to Stonehenge offers a unique and awe-inspiring experience. Standing amidst the ancient stones and contemplating their immense size and the mysteries surrounding their construction and the frustration of not getting any answers!

The surrounding landscape which includes burial mounds and other ancient monuments also adds to the site's mystique and historical significance.

You will leave Stonehenge thinking how on earth did it get built!?
